Artist Statement : Des Bunyon
My prints in this exhibition are etchings inspired by landscapes. Some are based on memories of travelling through Umbria in Italy, while others depict imagined landscapes.
Influenced by the work of printmakers including Sidney Long, Fred Williams, Frank Brangwyn, Hoshi, and many others, I enjoy creating landscapes that range from representational to more abstract forms, often using a multi-colour plate technique.
The printing process is always exciting because the acid etching can produce unexpected lines and textures beyond those I originally drew, adding another layer of character to the finished image. It feels a little like alchemy—and that's part of the joy.

These works can be understood as varying interpretations of impressions and memory. Firstly, the backgrounds are reconstructed from sliced woodcuts and repurposed to form new imagery.
Secondly, childhood memories and early impressions of my mother’s dresses are subtly represented through the use of paper dolls – a lingering childhood obsession which continues to re-occur as a central symbol in my work. 7.8.9 $200 each

Artist Statement: Marion Manifold
The Acacia and Honeyeater series is a reminder of the importance of our native acacias upon which honeyeater pollinators depend and play a role in mitigating climate change and other human impacts.
The multi-layered linocuts with washes are printed with seven acacia species – Golden wattle, Prickly Moses, Raspberry Jam wattle, Cootamundra wattle, Blackwood, Ribbed wattle and Coastal wattle – and have applied linocut collage honeyeaters.

It intrigues me how people can get an impression of something and then form an opinion based on that, whether or not it is accurate. An impression is just the beginning of understanding.

Whilst beach combing along Magnetic Island shores, I picked up this palm tree fragment, thinking of printing this linear network. On closer inspection, it looked like a fish, with a crack along its middle! This reminded me of Leonard Cohen’s
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything,
That’s how the light gets in

I love yabbies. Not to eat, but as amazing ecological engineers who keep our waterways clean. Their colour reflects their diet, they are great athiding away, and they are truly Australian icons.

Artist Statement: Dr Liza McCosh
I am drawn to experimental and non-conventional forms of printmaking that can easily add dimension to multi-layered imagery. In these Autumn inspired artworks, I have taken the liberty to use methods more associated with monotypes including stencil, direct transfer and acetate lifts. Layering these different printmaking techniques allows for chance happenings to occur through the autonomy of materials and achieves a painterly effect within the composition. I enjoy creating in this manner rather than formulated traditional methods. Dr Liza McCosh 2026

For ‘Impressions', I have included two printmaking techniques - woodblock reduction and Lino-cut - which are my all-time favourites.
24.Toolong evening woodblock reduction, framed, $700 unframed $500
Toolong evening is a six colour reduction print which means that the image was run through the press six times, with each separate colour layered over the previous print. The block is carved further in between each pressing. Getting the registration correct requires meticulous placement.
25.Reflection lino cut print framed with accompanying plate, NFS.
Reflection is a reimagined lino-cut of Freychinet, Tasmania. The original print, which was a finalist in the 2005 Geelong Gallery acquisitive print awards, is juxtaposed with the actual plate in negative and upside down. I did this to demonstrate and highlight the theme of this show - impressions
Artist Statement :Britt Gow
Since participating in the printmakers’ “Trees” exhibition at F Project in 2021, I have continued to create prints from the cross-sections of fallen trees. Both this technique and the trees themselves have provided an endless source of inspiration for my printmaking practice.The process of selecting, sanding, scorching, inking, and burnishing each piece of timber invites reflection on the many seasons a tree has endured, and the countless organisms it has sheltered and nourished throughout its lifetime. Through these works, I hope to honour each tree and encourage viewers to reflect on the vital ecological, practical, and social benefits that trees provide.

This collection combines layers of hand-drawn textures with cyanotype prints. Process is a central part of this work. Through intuitive mark making, I explore the space between memory, emotion and the surreal.

The Warrnambool Botanical Gardens has always been a place of joy for me and my family. A place we could walk and play, and actively reduce stress. Just being around trees improves my focus, and enhances my mood. The gardens never get boring as it changes with the seasons and the plantings the staff make. I especially enjoy the play of light through the trees.

Acknowledging the emotional weight that textiles can hold and the quiet significance of gifted objects, a growing collection of lace, fabric and threads, are not simply keepsakes, each is intimately linked with the human experience.
Recontextualising them through printmaking as a means of preserving the physical traces of these ordinary possessions. The layered surfaces, delicate impressions and imperfections within each print reflect on the way memories are accumulated, altered, and passed between people.
